Software Engineer (Robotics)

Builds commercially scalable and safe hirify.global robots, including the HMND-01 Alpha platform used in industrial pilots.

What you will do

• Define precise, computable metrics for control quality, including smoothness, latency, tracking error, and accuracy.
• Build pipelines that calculate metrics from recorded robot data, simulation runs, and live telemetry.
• Develop deterministic automated test harnesses for control releases and integrate evaluation into simulation and hardware-in-the-loop CI.
• Create tooling for side-by-side comparison of controller variants and releases, with automated pass/fail thresholds.
• Build per-robot and fleet-level test suites, dashboards, and tracking for control drift, variation, and degradation.
• Work with control engineers to instrument real-time code and make control performance measurable and reliable.

Requirements

• Professional robotics experience with real systems, including robot data, timing, synchronization, and hardware experiments.
• Strong Python skills and enough modern C++ to work confidently in and instrument a real-time control codebase.
• Experience building test automation, evaluation frameworks, or benchmarking infrastructure for complex systems.
• Sound measurement and data-analysis judgment, including sampling, noise, and statistical significance.
• Experience with ROS or ROS2, message recording and replay, time synchronization, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based workflows.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of robot kinematics, dynamics, or control systems.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop rigs, physical regression testing, or simulation environments such as MuJoCo and Isaac Sim/Isaac Lab.
• Experience operating fleets of robots or other distributed physical devices.
• Data engineering experience with pipeline orchestration, time-series databases, or large-scale log processing.
• Experience with release management or quality gates for safety-relevant software.
