Clinical Advisor (AI)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area; remote. Occasional in-person time in San Francisco or at partner clinic sites is a plus.

Optexity is a product-driven research lab building clinical reasoning and computer-use models and a clinical AI assistant for real medical practices.

What you will do

• Define which care gaps, risk signals, and clinical information the assistant should surface.
• Shape pre-visit summaries, including their content, order, length, and practical usefulness.
• Specify clinical search requirements and what complete chart-based answers should contain.
• Review and grade model-generated risk flags, differentials, and treatment plans, explaining clinically meaningful gaps.
• Build real-case evaluation sets and rubrics that reflect actual standards of care.
• Pressure-test product and design decisions against real clinical workflows and contribute to benchmarks and technical publications.

Requirements

• MD or DO with board certification or board eligibility.
• Current or recent clinical practice in internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, primary care, or an adjacent specialty.
• Day-to-day fluency with an EMR such as Epic, eClinicalWorks, Athena, ModMed, or a similar system.
• Ability to explain clinical reasoning, provide direct feedback, and assess ambiguity and model failure modes.
• Genuine interest in AI in medicine and its limitations.

Nice to have

• Clinical informatics training or CMIO-adjacent experience.
• Experience with quality measures and value-based care programs, including HEDIS, MIPS, CPT Category II, or HCC coding.
• Prior health tech product experience, research or publication experience, or experience training residents or fellows.
