Structural Analysis Engineer (I/II)

Location: Irvine, California, United States. The position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. U.S. export-control requirements also apply.

Salary: $75,000–$120,000 USD annually. Level I range: $75,000–$95,000; Level II range: $85,000–$120,000.

What you will do

• Support spacecraft structural system and subsystem design from concept development through design reviews, prototyping, production, testing, and launch integration.
• Build detailed finite element models and perform static, dynamic, buckling, thermal, linear, nonlinear, and transient analyses for complex satellite structures.
• Identify structural design constraints and recommend risk-mitigation strategies across the product lifecycle.
• Own mechanical test projects, including quotations, schedules, logistics, fixtures, tooling, transportation, documentation, and vendor coordination.
• Develop plans, procedures, and reports for vibration, shock, acceleration, life, and endurance tests.
• Participate in spacecraft arrangement, design, analysis, testing, and potentially on-console operations, including off-hours or on-call periods.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Level I: 0+ years of structural analysis experience; Level II: 2+ years of experience in aerospace, space, or a similar sector.
• Experience with Nastran and Patran, solid mechanics, material science, and static and dynamic launch-environment loads.
• Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
• Experience working with internal and external customers, with strong presentation and communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Nice to have

• MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a solid mechanics focus.
• Experience developing detailed and simplified structural models for spacecraft systems, subsystems, and components.
• Experience with random, sine, and SRS vibration testing, static load testing, and data acquisition and processing.
• Production experience in the space or aerospace industry.
• Experience with MSC Apex, NASTRAN, PATRAN, ADAMS, or MARC.
