Senior Quantum Fault-Tolerance Architect (Quantum Computing)

Location: Siegen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany; preferred work location options also include Hamburg, Germany. The role requires the right to work in Germany.

hirify.global develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology, combining quantum hardware, firmware, control systems, modelling, and software.

What you will do

• Develop fault-tolerant quantum-computing strategies and logical architectures for trapped-ion MAGIC quantum processors.
• Lead hardware-aware quantum error-correction studies and guide architectural decisions for future processor generations.
• Coordinate performance models connecting hardware characterization, circuit-level noise models, and logical performance metrics.
• Collaborate with System Architecture, System Operations, Software Engineering, and Quantum Applications teams on the co-design of fault-tolerant quantum computers.
• Help develop and mentor the fault-tolerance team and support the long-term technology roadmap.

Requirements

• PhD in Physics, Quantum Information and Computation, or a closely related field.
• Exceptional postdoctoral or industrial research experience in quantum error correction and ideally logical architecture design.
• Demonstrated scientific leadership and ability to drive independent research activities.
• Ability to work effectively across theory, hardware, software, and engineering disciplines.
• Fluent English communication.
• Right to work in Germany is required.
