Body Department Welding Engineer

Location: Kansas City, Kansas, United States; onsite with full-time plant-floor presence required. Shift rotation, weekend, shutdown, and extended-hours support may be required. Travel to suppliers or other hirify.global locations may be required. Relocation benefits are available under company policy.

What you will do

• Operate, improve, and provide technical leadership for automated body shop welding and joining equipment and systems.
• Support production, new product and equipment launches, troubleshooting, system upgrades, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Lead or support the design, programming, integration, installation, commissioning, validation, and launch of new or modified body equipment.
• Analyze weld monitoring data, destructive teardown reports, process-control records, and quality events to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Manage change control and engineering documentation for welding, dispensing, mechanical joining, sealing, adhesive, and robotic systems.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, quality, safety, manufacturing engineering, suppliers, contractors, and skilled trades to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and equipment performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Weld Engineering, Metallurgy, or equivalent experience.
• Training in mechanics, vibrations, fluid dynamics, physics, metallurgy, electricity, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and manufacturing techniques.
• Training in computer and robotic applications, with the ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Strong communication, organization, project-management, collaboration, and prioritization skills.
• Commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement.
• Must work onsite in Kansas City, Kansas, and support rotating shifts, weekends, shutdowns, or extended hours when required.

Nice to have

• Automotive manufacturing or body shop experience.
• Fanuc robotics, equipment commissioning, factory or site acceptance testing, or production launch experience.
• Knowledge of resistance spot welding, projection welding, drawn arc welding and brazing, mechanical joining, sealer and adhesive dispensing, laser welding, and laser brazing.
• Experience with automated robotic manufacturing and associated control systems.
