Staff Security Engineer I - Detection & Response (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote within the United States; locations include Poughkeepsie, Lowell, Rochester, Tucson, Research Triangle Park, Armonk, Boston, Bellevue, Atlanta, San Jose, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, and Seattle. Some travel may be required based on business demand.

Salary: $161,000–$299,000 per year.

What you will do

• Architect, build, and maintain scalable cloud-based security monitoring solutions, including logging pipelines, ETL jobs, and SIEM ingestion.
• Develop threat-hunting roadmaps and translate adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures into high-signal detection strategies.
• Build alert-triage and incident-response workflows, participate in a shared on-call rotation, and drive incidents to closure.
• Research emerging attack vectors and improve detection rules using coverage, precision, and MTTD metrics.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement security telemetry and secure-by-default visibility across new infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to security engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant industry experience in detection and response or a similar security engineering role in a cloud-first environment.
• Expert knowledge of detection engineering and security incident response.
• Experience with telemetry instrumentation and detection development across Kubernetes, containers, and multi-cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Python or Golang for complex tooling, automation, and data pipelines.
• Experience operating SIEM, log aggregation, SOAR, or similar security event-management solutions.
• Must be able to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Familiarity with more than one cloud provider, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
