Staff+ Software Engineer, Platform Distribution (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY; hybrid attendance at one of the company offices at least 25% of the time. Preference is given to candidates based in New York or the Bay Area.

Annual salary: $405,000–$485,000 USD

What you will do

• Build the Claude Platform as a cloud-native managed product across AWS, GCP, Azure, and Anthropic infrastructure.
• Bring the API, control plane, and Anthropic features to cloud service provider platforms through cross-cloud and native integrations.
• Develop enterprise capabilities including key management, encryption, audit APIs, usage visibility, access control, and international data residency.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Systems, Networking, Databases, Inference, and cloud provider teams on complex technical challenges.
• Lead ambiguous, cross-team infrastructure projects from design through deployment, production, and operations.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of practical experience as a backend or platform engineer building scalable distributed systems, ideally at tech lead level or equivalent.
• Experience owning large-scale infrastructure systems and independently leading cross-team technical projects.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure at scale and/or multi-tenant Enterprise SaaS.
• Background in security, compliance, data residency, regulated environments, or sovereign cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Rust, or a similar systems language.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience.
