Senior Staff Back-end Engineer (Rocket Pay) (Java/Kotlin, Spring, Fintech): Building and operating a universal payment platform for online and offline commerce with an accent on large-scale distributed systems, reliability, security, performance, and data consistency. Focus on defining architecture and engineering strategy, handling massive transaction volumes, and leading technical decisions across payment processing, wallets, settlement, reconciliation, and merchant services.
Location: Seoul, South Korea

What you will do
- Define the technical direction and architecture for Rocket Pay's core payment domains.
- Design, develop, and operate large-scale distributed payment systems supporting online and offline commerce.
- Own end-to-end system reliability, scalability, security, performance, and data consistency.
- Work across payment processing, wallet services, merchant onboarding, settlement, reconciliation, risk controls, and financial reporting.
- Lead architecture reviews, technical decisions, and mentoring for other engineers.
Requirements
- 12+ years of backend engineering experience.
- Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems with Java or Kotlin and the Spring Framework.
- Strong ownership of complex services or domains and a record of driving improvements.
- Ability to design systems with strong performance, reliability, data consistency, and security.
- Experience structuring ambiguous problems and delivering tangible business impact through technical decisions.
- Full-time regular employment with a 12-week probation period.
Nice to have
- Experience leading architecture design and migrations in JPA- and microservices-based environments.
- Payment or fintech development and operations experience.
- Experience with incident response, monitoring, SLA improvement, and high-traffic systems.
- Experience processing large-scale data and ensuring settlement and reconciliation accuracy.
- Technical leadership in agile software development environments.
