Senior COBOL Developer

Location: Hybrid work in Porto or Lisbon, Portugal

Salary: €28,000–€52,000 gross per year

What you will do

• Analyse, maintain, and develop existing COBOL code.
• Work with CICS, DB2, and JCL in mainframe environments.
• Create technical documentation, user guides, and API documentation.
• Follow coding standards and development best practices while delivering clean, maintainable code.
• Ensure production constraints related to costs, deadlines, and quality are met.
• Adapt to different technical and functional tasks and deliver work independently.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in similar roles.
• Strong professional experience with COBOL and solid experience with CICS, DB2, and JCL.
• Ability to analyse existing code, follow established standards, and produce maintainable solutions.
• Fluent English at B2 level or higher.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, resilience, creativity, and autonomous-working skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of French.
• Previous experience working in an international environment.
