Romania Payroll Lead

What you will do

• Lead accurate and timely monthly payroll for more than 1,600 employees in Romania.
• Monitor Romanian payroll legislation and ensure compliance with legal and company requirements.
• Manage local payroll provider relationships and validate payroll system configuration changes.
• Oversee employee expense reconciliations, month-end closing activities, and end-to-end process controls.
• Represent hirify.global before local authorities and lead tax and social security audits.
• Drive issue resolution, process improvement, automation, and the exploration of AI-enabled enhancements.

Requirements

• Four-year or graduate degree in business administration, finance, HR, tax, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Typically 7–10 years of experience, preferably as a Romania payroll expert.
• Strong knowledge of the Romanian payroll framework and government regulations.
• Experience collaborating with legal, HR, and controllership functions.
• Excellent communication, influencing, analytical, teamwork, and customer-oriented skills.
• Fluent Romanian and English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with SAP Payroll or ADP Global View.
• Experience with Workday HCM and the PECI interface.
• Experience leading tax audits in a multinational environment.
• Digital skills including AI, intelligent automation, or Power BI.
