TL;DR
VP Engagement (Fundraising and Strategic Partnerships): Leading an integrated engagement function spanning philanthropy, partnerships, marketing, alumni and community engagement, public relations, and impact storytelling with an accent on resource mobilization and institutional relationship leadership. Focus on building donor and partner ecosystems, structuring strategic collaborations, strengthening the university’s reputation, and leading a high-performing stakeholder engagement department across Africa and globally.
Location: Rwanda, Mauritius or Remote

What you will do
- Design and execute integrated fundraising and business development strategies covering major gifts, foundations, corporate giving, and institutional campaigns.
- Build and steward relationships with donors, companies, governments, NGOs, foundations, mni, parents, and global institutions.
- Structure strategic partnerships that support student opportunities, program development, funding, innovation, and thought leadership.
- Lead mni and community engagement programs, including mentorship, career support, investment networks, and community impact initiatives.
- Oversee marketing, branding, public relations, external communications, impact reporting, and institutional storytelling.
- Lead high-impact events and represent the university with philanthropic, corporate, civic, and international stakeholders.
Requirements
- Significant leadership experience in fundraising, partnerships, external affairs, or stakeholder engagement.
- Proven success building relationships that generate funding, partnerships, or institutional growth.
- Experience working with senior leaders, boards, donors, and global networks.
- Familiarity with Africa’s development, philanthropic, or innovation ecosystems.
- Ability to design fundraising strategies, negotiate strategic partnerships, and translate institutional outcomes into compelling narratives.
- Experience building and activating mni, community, supporter, or other stakeholder networks.
