Staff ML Infra Engineer (Search & Discovery)

What you will do

• Drive the end-to-end data platform and data quality roadmap for Search & Discovery machine learning initiatives.
• Own and optimize data logging, processing, and ML model training pipelines.
• Develop scalable infrastructure for batch and real-time processing, monitoring, and debugging of ML experiments.
• Design and implement scalable ranking systems and online ML inference services.
• Process billions of user interaction records and petabytes of raw log data for search and recommendation systems.
• Partner with data scientists, analysts, product managers, ranking engineers, indexing platform engineers, and data platform engineers; mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in applied machine learning.
• Experience with machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
• Production-grade ML systems development experience with Python and/or Java.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, performance complexity, and computer architecture impacts on software performance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.

Nice to have

• Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Presto, Spark, Scala, or Apache Airflow.
• Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience deploying robust, scalable pipelines processing petabytes of data.
• Experience managing high-throughput, low-latency mission-critical services.
• Experience integrating platforms with AWS or GCP.
• Experience with machine learning platforms for search and discovery ranking.
