Robot Learning Engineer Intern (AI)

Location: SF Bay Area, South San Francisco; in-person, on-site

hirify.global builds intelligent robotic systems that combine robotics and AI to autonomously perform labor-intensive construction, verification, and planning tasks, initially supporting large-scale solar infrastructure.

What you will do

• Train policies using imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and fine-tuned foundation models for real robot tasks.
• Build data collection and evaluation pipelines and run ablation studies.
• Deploy policies on hardware and iterate based on real-world performance.
• Test learning systems on real robots at the office.
• Work with pose estimation, VLMs, VLAs, 3D scene reconstruction, object detection, and multimodal learning.
• Potentially publish research as a PhD intern and attend leading industry conferences.

Requirements

• Pursuing an MS or PhD in machine learning, robotics, computer science, or a related field; exceptional undergraduates are welcome.
• Strong PyTorch skills and solid deep learning fundamentals.
• Experience with imitation learning or reinforcement learning.
• Applied evidence through publications, open-source work, or substantial course or competition projects.
• Ability to own tasks with light supervision and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills.
• Legally authorized to complete an internship in the United States for either 3 or 6 months.

Nice to have

• Experience with Isaac or MuJoCo simulators.
• Experience with VLA or foundation models, teleoperation data collection, or real-hardware deployment.
