On-Site ROI Medical Records Specialist (Medical Records)

Location: On-site at COS - Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, Alabama; candidates must be local to Athens, AL.

What you will do

• Process release of information requests by retrieving, scanning, returning, and organizing patient medical records.
• Validate authorizations and requests according to company policies, legal requirements, and HIPAA regulations.
• Perform quality checks for accuracy, confidentiality, billing, productivity, and compliance.
• Respond to requests received by mail, telephone, fax, online submission tools, and email.
• Order paper records from storage vendors, scan records upon arrival, and coordinate their timely return.
• Provide responsive customer service, maintain equipment and work areas, and support additional assignments to prevent backlogs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least two years of experience in a medical records department or similar setting preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to use fax machines, copiers, and scanning equipment.
• Strong documentation, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team while meeting productivity, utilization, and quality standards.
• Must be local to Athens, AL and able to work on-site in the hospital facility.
