On-Site ROI Medical Records Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: On-site at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, Alabama; candidates must be local to Sheffield, AL.

What you will do

• Process release-of-information requests by retrieving, scanning, and returning patient medical charts.
• Validate requests and authorizations in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and HIPAA regulations.
• Perform quality checks to ensure accurate, confidential record releases and correct billing.
• Order paper records from storage vendors, scan them upon arrival, and coordinate timely returns.
• Respond to requests received by mail, phone, fax, online submission tools, or email.
• Maintain equipment, organized work areas, productivity standards, and professional customer service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least two years of experience in a medical records department or similar setting preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to use fax machines, copiers, and scanning equipment.
• Strong documentation, communication, and customer service skills.
• Must be local to Sheffield, Alabama and able to work on-site.
