Reliability & Failure Analysis Team Lead

What you will do

• Build and lead a team responsible for debugging and diagnosing failed cattle collars and tower components.
• Own the returns pipeline, including intake, safe handling, triage, diagnostics, storage, traceability, turnaround time, throughput, and root-cause accuracy.
• Personally investigate high-impact and ambiguous hardware failure modes.
• Own the roadmap for failure-analysis laboratory capabilities, including bringing X-ray/CT, cross-section, and SEM analysis in-house.
• Communicate failure trends and technical insights to hardware, firmware, production, supplier quality, and networking teams.
• Develop technical depth, process discipline, and a high-performance team culture.

Requirements

• Deep electronics engineering experience with hands-on debugging of complex hardware.
• 5+ years of experience in leadership roles, including building high-performance teams.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical findings into clear cross-functional feedback.
• Curious, principled, and evidence-driven approach to root-cause analysis.
• Strong ownership, bias for action, collaboration, and willingness to work hands-on across broader challenges.
• Ability to work from the Auckland office on an office-first, predominantly in-person basis.
