TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Backend) (Java/TypeScript/AWS): Building and scaling financial product discovery and switching services used across millions of customer journeys with an accent on cloud engineering, secure delivery, and full SDLC ownership. Focus on leading feature delivery, optimizing high-performing codebases, applying test-driven development, and exploring AI-assisted software engineering.

Location: Manchester (Spinningfields), United Kingdom; hybrid working with 2 days in the office per week

What you will do

Lead feature delivery and contribute to technical strategy within the team.
Design, implement, test, deploy, debug, optimize, and maintain customer-facing services.
Build clean, maintainable software with Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, AWS, and Vue.js.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver new features.
Apply TDD, pairing, mob programming, continuous delivery, and security-by-design practices.
Mentor colleagues and contribute to technical communities, guilds, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Proven experience as a software engineer with TypeScript/JavaScript or Java and modern cloud platforms.
Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
Experience with end-to-end testing and Git version control.
Ability to take ownership of delivery, technical quality, and complex engineering problems.
Passion for agile development, continuous learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
Comfort using AI coding assistants to improve productivity.
