Director of Finance

Location: On-site in Toronto, five days per week. Candidates must be based in Toronto or open to relocating to Canada.

Compensation: C$130K–C$175K+ plus equity

What you will do

• Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and oversee IFRS financial statements and lead external audits end-to-end.
• Establish accounting policies, documentation, and accurate revenue recognition for complex transactions.
• Scale financial processes, reporting systems, workflows, treasury, cash management, and working capital operations.
• Oversee corporate tax filings, including SR&ED, and coordinate with advisors across jurisdictions.
• Deliver board-ready reporting and partner cross-functionally to maintain financial discipline.

Requirements

• CPA designation required.
• 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Manager-level audit experience; Big Four experience preferred.
• Controller-level ownership in a VC-backed startup.
• Direct ownership of IFRS financial statements and external audits.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, practical judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
