Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Austin, TX or the Washington D.C. Area; U.S.-based role

What you will do

• Design and deploy agentic workflows for multi-step reasoning, tool use, and decision-making.
• Productionize research prototypes into scalable, reliable AI systems for real-world applications.
• Develop and optimize adaptive machine learning systems using LoRA, PEFT, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face Transformers.
• Apply quantization, pruning, distillation, and hardware-specific acceleration techniques.
• Build RAG pipelines with vector database integrations for contextual retrieval.
• Optimize multimodal AI inference across cloud, edge, mobile, distributed, and resource-constrained environments.

Requirements

• Active U.S. security clearance required.
• 4+ years of experience in applied AI, machine learning engineering, or production AI systems.
• Deep proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face Transformers.
• Experience deploying AI models across cloud, edge, and mobile hardware.
• Expertise in model compression and optimization, including quantization, pruning, and distillation.
• Experience building RAG pipelines, integrating vector databases, and working with multimodal models or synthetic data generation.

Nice to have

• Experience with edge AI, federated learning, or offline inference systems.
• Understanding of AI governance and compliance frameworks for public-sector deployments.
• Experience integrating models into distributed systems or microservice architectures.
• Strong knowledge of GPU computing, CUDA, and performance profiling.
• Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
