TL;DR
Senior Tensor AI Scientist (Tensor Networks/Deep Learning): Advancing tensor network research and developing efficient machine learning architectures, training methods, and optimisation algorithms with an accent on large-scale deep learning, model compression, and mathematical modelling. Focus on designing and validating new algorithms, running distributed training on GPU and HPC platforms, applying methods to real-world problems, and mentoring junior researchers.

What you will do

  • Advance and scale tensor network research beyond the current state of the art.
  • Develop efficient machine learning architectures, training methods, optimisation algorithms, and model compression techniques.
  • Design and train modern deep learning models, including transformers, with a focus on efficient large-scale training.
  • Take research ideas from concept through algorithm development and validated results, applying them to challenging real-world problems.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to run methods efficiently on modern computing platforms.
  • Contribute to patents and publications, represent the company at conferences, structure research activities, and mentor junior colleagues.

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of relevant post-PhD experience, or equivalent experience after an MSc, in machine learning, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Strong mathematical foundations in linear algebra, numerical methods, optimisation, probability, and machine learning optimisation.
  • Hands-on experience training transformers or other modern deep learning models using PyTorch or JAX, including efficient large-scale training and fine-tuning.
  • Experience with low-rank methods, quantisation, distillation, sparsity, GPU and HPC environments, distributed training, and Python software engineering.
  • A record of publications or patents and the ability to independently lead research from concept to result.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to guide and develop junior colleagues.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of tensor networks and related numerical and optimisation methods.
  • Experience in finance, chemistry, or operations.
  • Knowledge of C++ and familiarity with quantum computing.
