Permitting Lead (Fusion Energy)

hirify.global develops stellarator fusion technology and the hardware and infrastructure for commercial fusion power plants.

What you will do

• Own the permitting strategy and execution for the Alpha fusion facility across relevant sites.
• Lead building regulations and planning approval processes in Garching and Gundremmingen.
• Build relationships with planning and building authorities and specialist regulatory advisors.
• Integrate permitting requirements into the Basis of Design and structural, systems, and MEP design inputs.
• Prepare, submit, and track permitting documentation with architects and external planning teams.
• Prepare the regulatory strategy and site-specific groundwork for Stellaris permitting.

Requirements

• Experience with building regulations, planning law, and permitting for major industrial, energy, or research infrastructure projects in Germany.
• Ability to define and execute a multi-site permitting strategy across simultaneous processes.
• Experience managing relationships directly with planning and building authorities.
• Understanding of how German radiation protection or nuclear licensing timelines interact with building permits.
• Fluent German and English, written and spoken, required.
• Familiarity with AI tools and digital working methods in a lean, high-autonomy environment.

Nice to have

• Background in planning, building regulations, or regulatory affairs for energy, industrial, or research facilities.
• Experience managing multiple permitting processes simultaneously.
• Additional familiarity with radiation protection and nuclear licensing in Germany.
