Permitting Manager (Energy)

hirify.global is a high-growth fusion energy startup and spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, developing next-generation stellarator fusion power plants.

What you will do

• Own the permitting strategy and execution for the Alpha facility across all relevant sites.
• Lead building regulations and planning approval processes for Garching and Gundremmingen.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with planning authorities and regulatory advisors.
• Act as the bridge between regulatory constraints and the engineering team to ensure requirements flow into the Basis of Design.
• Coordinate with the Head of Licensing & Regulation to sequence building permits and nuclear licensing requirements.
• Define the regulatory landscape and playbook for future Stellaris permitting.

Requirements

• Fluent in German and English (written and spoken) is mandatory for authority relationships.
• Proven experience in building regulations, planning law, and permitting for major industrial or energy infrastructure projects in Germany.
• Ability to manage authority relationships directly as the owner-side face.
• Understanding of how regulatory constraints shape structural and systems design.
• Familiarity with the radiation protection licensing landscape in Germany.
• Comfortable with AI tools and digital working methods in a high-autonomy environment.
