Freelance Infrastructure Finance Reporter (APAC Focus)

Location: Remote, based in Sydney, Australia; willingness to travel across Australia and APAC for industry events is required.

What you will do

• Produce exclusive articles and analysis on infrastructure finance transactions and investment trends across Australia and APAC.
• Break news on project finance deals, M&A processes, debt and equity fundraising, and secondary-market activity.
• Cover greenfield project finance, PPPs, infrastructure fund strategies, energy transition, transport, logistics, digital, water, and social infrastructure.
• Build and maintain a regional network of developers, infrastructure funds, banks, investors, government stakeholders, policymakers, and advisers.
• Interview senior decision-makers and provide forward-looking insight on policy shifts, regulatory developments, and market dynamics.
• Collaborate with editors, analysts, and contributors while delivering accurate reporting under deadline pressure.

Requirements

• Proven experience in financial journalism, ideally covering infrastructure finance, energy, or project finance.
• Track record of breaking exclusive stories and developing proprietary angles.
• Established network across Australian and/or APAC infrastructure markets.
• Strong understanding of project finance, PPP structures, debt and equity capital markets, and the Australian infrastructure policy and regulatory environment.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and willingness to travel across Australia and APAC.
