Staff ML Research Scientist (Embodied AI)

Location: Waltham Office, United States. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Base pay: $154,310–$192,887 annually, with an annual bonus structure.

What you will do

• Research and build novel machine learning architectures that enable robots to operate safely around people.
• Develop, validate, and deploy models for detecting hazards, humans, and environmental features.
• Create datasets, evaluation metrics, and validation plans for machine learning research.
• Design and prototype deep learning perception and behavior models for robotic safety features.
• Collaborate with a small, interdisciplinary machine learning safety and robotics team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience applying deep learning to scalable real-world problems in computer vision or large language models.
• Experience across the full modeling cycle, from research through deployment, using modern architectures such as Transformers, VLMs/VLAs, and deep reinforcement learning.
• Knowledge of current research in computer vision, world models, and deep reinforcement learning.
• Experience with network design, data management, training, evaluation, hyperparameter search, deployment, productionization, and online validation.
• Strong technical communication skills, including documentation and presentations.
• Experience working in small, interdisciplinary teams.
