Staff Software Engineer, Machine Learning and Computational Chemistry

Salary: $200,000–$241,500 per year, plus bonus and equity compensation

What you will do

• Design and optimize algorithms and models for chemical property prediction, compound screening, and reaction optimization.
• Deploy computational chemistry tools into production pipelines with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Develop computational chemistry pipelines using simulation, modeling, and AI to accelerate early drug discovery.
• Collaborate with biologists, chemists, microscopists, and engineering teams to prototype and productionize software for scientific experiments.
• Manage multiple projects, milestones, and deadlines in coordination with broader company goals.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, 5 years with a master's degree, or 2+ years with a PhD in computer science, software engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience is also considered.
• Strong background in machine learning, statistics, data analysis, chemistry, and chemical concepts.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C, or C++.
• Experience with cheminformatics, including molecular representations, molecular fingerprints, and chemical structure libraries such as RDKit or OpenBabel.
• Understanding of computational chemistry methods including docking, molecular dynamics, free energy perturbation, and retrosynthetic prediction.
• Ability to investigate and solve problems from prototype development through production design, with strong communication and organizational skills.

• Strong Python programming expertise.
• Familiarity with biology and biological concepts at the college freshman level.
