Senior Datadog Security & Observability Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote, US; 100% remote from select US locations, with an optional hybrid schedule for candidates in the El Dorado Hills, CA or Chicago, IL metro areas.

What you will do

• Own and continuously improve Datadog Cloud SIEM, security monitoring, and observability across production and corporate environments.
• Design, build, test, and tune detection rules, correlation logic, telemetry pipelines, and detection-as-code workflows.
• Maintain log pipelines, parsing rules, processors, facets, indexes, archives, and retention strategies.
• Automate telemetry-source onboarding and correlate Datadog, EDR, cloud, identity, and security-platform signals.
• Build dashboards, monitors, analytics, and reporting for Security, SRE, and Engineering teams.
• Assess detection gaps, improve incident-response readiness, and maintain coverage against MITRE ATT&CK.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on Datadog experience in detection engineering, SIEM engineering, security engineering, or security observability.
• Production experience administering and scaling Datadog in complex cloud environments, including Cloud SIEM, Log Management, Security Monitoring, dashboards, monitors, and alerting.
• Experience with log parsing, normalization, enrichment, pipeline management, detection rules, correlation logic, and investigation workflows.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and cloud-native infrastructure, plus scripting or automation with Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
• Experience with Datadog APIs, Terraform, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Strong understanding of attacker behaviors, modern detection strategies, MITRE ATT&CK, and security telemetry across cloud, endpoint, identity, and application environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with SentinelOne, Wiz, Datadog APM, Infrastructure Monitoring, distributed tracing, or synthetic monitoring.
• Experience optimizing Datadog ingestion, indexing, retention, platform cost, SOAR, workflow automation, or response orchestration.
• Familiarity with Sigma, zero-trust architectures, identity-centric security, and privileged access management.
• Experience operating Datadog across large-scale, multi-account, or multi-region AWS environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
