TL;DR
Guidance, Navigation, & Controls (GNC) Simulation Engineer (Aerospace) (6-DOF aerospace vehicle simulations): Developing high-fidelity GNC simulation models, analysis tools, and verification frameworks for Axiom Space modules with an accent on Monte Carlo analysis, sensor and actuator modeling, and hardware-in-the-loop integration. Focus on validating models against test and mission data, solving off-nominal performance and anomaly-analysis challenges, and supporting system-level flight software verification.

Location: Onsite in Houston, United States, at the Space Station Development Facility. U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency and successful completion of a U.S. government background investigation are required.

Company

hirify.global develops commercial human spaceflight services, advanced spacesuits, and Axiom Station, a commercial space station designed to support sustained human presence and research in low-Earth orbit.

What you will do

  • Design, analyze, and implement GNC algorithms and simulations for aerospace vehicles.
  • Develop and maintain 6-DOF dynamic models, simulation architecture, regression scenarios, Monte Carlo frameworks, and analysis tools.
  • Model vehicles, sensors, actuators, and environments, then validate results against test data and engineering expectations.
  • Integrate, test, and verify GNC functionality with embedded software teams using software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop systems.
  • Analyze flight and mission data, troubleshoot anomalies, and perform root-cause analysis and sensitivity studies.
  • Support requirements, architecture, design reviews, verification plans, technical documentation, and cross-disciplinary engineering decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 4–9 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience developing 6-DOF Monte Carlo simulations of aerospace vehicles and validating sensor or actuator models.
  • Proficiency in C++, Matlab, and/or Python, with development experience in Linux environments.
  • Experience with software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop development, analysis, and testing; Git CI/CD and pipeline maintenance.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Houston, provide proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, and complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with NASA’s Trick simulation framework and JSC Engineering Orbital Mechanics (JEOD).
  • Broad understanding of GNC technology domains.

Culture & Benefits

  • Mission-driven work supporting commercial space infrastructure, human spaceflight, and microgravity research.
  • Collaboration across propulsion, avionics, structures, mission operations, embedded software, and hardware teams.
  • Inclusive environment emphasizing leadership, innovation, teamwork, accountability, and ownership.
  • Work may involve office-based tasks and occasional indoor or outdoor activities depending on project needs.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required to meet critical project milestones.
