Senior Threat Researcher, FTR (Cybersecurity)

What you will do

• Research and profile cyber threat actors, including their tradecraft, infrastructure, motivations, and business models.
• Translate offensive security findings into defensive research, detection opportunities, hunting hypotheses, and mitigation guidance.
• Publish external-facing blogs, whitepapers, and conference presentations.
• Partner with law enforcement organizations, including Interpol, Europol, the FBI, and the NCA, when research produces actionable intelligence.
• Represent TrendAI at global conferences and collaborate with product and detection engineering teams on mitigation proposals.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in offensive security/red teaming or threat investigation/threat hunting, with meaningful exposure to the other discipline.
• Hands-on experience operating on both sides of the intrusion lifecycle and understanding attacker and defender perspectives.
• Strong understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK framework and adversary tradecraft mapping.
• Ability to use AI practically to automate tasks, connect datasets, and improve research efficiency and scale.
• Experience conducting independent research in ambiguous environments with limited prior art.
• Ability to work independently in a globally distributed team, travel regularly for meetings and conferences, and collaborate across time zones.

Nice to have

• Published research, conference talks, or a CTF and competition track record.
• Underground or deep web research, malware analysis, or cybercrime business model research.
• Experience with AI/LLM security, cloud, OT/IoT, blockchain/Web3, mobile, or automotive security.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, electronics and communication engineering, physics, or a related discipline, or equivalent proven hands-on expertise.
