Robotics Software Engineer II, Mission (Robotics)

Location: Redwood City, CA, United States; full-time onsite role.

Salary: $176K–$215K annually, dependent on relevant experience.

What you will do

• Extend the core engine with new robot behavior capabilities and help turn one-off robot solutions into a scalable platform.
• Design scalable APIs, build cloud integrations for remote customization, and develop AI integrations for configuring behavior through natural language.
• Own backend infrastructure and lead projects from conception and system design through deployment.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain clean, efficient, and reliable software using appropriate languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Contribute to system architecture, make informed design trade-offs, and ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders; troubleshoot production issues, conduct post-mortems, and drive quality through testing, code reviews, and continuous integration.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Go or C++; proficiency in both is preferred.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design principles, and architectural patterns.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud computing, and related technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to drive projects, make informed decisions, and deliver high-quality results.
• Passion for technology, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including prolonged desk work, use of a computer and keyboard, required visual capabilities, and lifting up to 20 lbs.

• Past experience with ROS.
