Data Engineering Lead (Ecommerce)

What you will do

• Own the data engineering architecture for the Customer, Commercial, and Operations domains.
• Design shared standards for data ingestion, transformation, storage, modelling, testing, documentation, and code review.
• Lead the evolution of the BigQuery/GCP platform, including migrations, legacy pipeline modernisation, and scalability improvements.
• Build consolidated, reliable domain datasets and establish foundations for a single source of truth through reconciliation, deduplication, and mastering.
• Apply AI tools to pipeline development, automated testing, anomaly detection, and data quality monitoring.
• Manage, coach, and develop six domain-aligned engineers while collaborating with Ingenuity and the Data Governance Lead.

Requirements

• Expert hands-on experience building and operating production data pipelines with BigQuery and GCP.
• Strong daily Python experience for pipeline development, data transformation, and automation.
• Experience across at least two of the Customer, Commercial, and Operations data domains.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, pipeline design, distributed data architecture, and data architecture evolution.
• Experience with Dataform or dbt, plus practical use of AI in data engineering.
• Experience mentoring and developing engineers.

• Customer Data Platform or customer data consolidation experience.
• Data governance experience and collaboration with governance functions.
• Ecommerce or retail background.
• Experience with streaming or real-time data pipelines.
