Senior Backend Engineer (Python/AI)

Location: On-site in Berlin

Compensation: €100,000 – €150,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Take ownership of complex backend systems from scoping and architecture to delivery.
• Design and build robust, scalable APIs and distributed systems.
• Collaborate with Product, Frontend, and Design teams to translate ideas into backend solutions.
• Evolve backend architecture, infrastructure, and developer tooling to support rapid iteration.
• Identify and execute initiatives to improve system performance and reliability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Python and FastAPI.
• Experience designing and implementing APIs (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC).
• Strong experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL) including schema design and query optimization.
• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures on GCP and DevOps practices.
• Strong communication skills and a high sense of ownership.

• Experience working on AI products or data-heavy applications.
• Background in starting a company or working at a top-tier high-growth startup.
• Academic background in Computer Science or related field.
• Proven track record of scaling systems with significant traffic.
