What you will do

• Prepare Abbott Alinity and Sysmex XN-550 analysers for daily sample processing.
• Perform biochemistry, immunoassay, and haematology testing, validate patient results, and escalate clinically anomalous findings.
• Complete calibration, internal quality control, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical escalation.
• Support the ISO 15189-aligned, UKAS-facing quality management system through SOP updates, EQA monitoring, audits, and non-conformance investigations.
• Contribute to analyser verification, reagent evaluation, software testing, and service improvement.
• Maintain auditable records, monitor turnaround times and KPIs, and provide technical guidance and training to clinical colleagues.

Requirements

• HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist and evidence of ongoing CPD.
• At least one year of post-registration experience in clinical chemistry and immunoassay, including IQC and EQA practice.
• Experience operating an integrated clinical chemistry and immunoassay analyser.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently under time pressure in a low-volume, fast-turnaround laboratory service.

Nice to have

• Post-registration experience in haematology.
• Hands-on experience with Sysmex XN-series or Abbott Alinity ci-series analysers.
• Experience in POCT, rapid diagnostics, or high-throughput clinical settings.
• Experience with LIMS, digital result reporting, LIMS development, or user acceptance testing.
