Senior Metrology & Automation Engineer

Location: Newark, Delaware, United States. Onsite work throughout a manufacturing plant and analytical laboratory environment.

What you will do

• Lead multifunctional projects to scout, design, develop, qualify, and implement new and improved metrology technologies.
• Create strategies and launch automation initiatives for metrology equipment and manufacturing processes.
• Lead technology qualification and change management activities with customers.
• Manage project execution, milestones, timelines, and resource requirements with stakeholders.
• Partner with high-volume manufacturing teams to establish best practices for metrology stability, capability, maintenance, parts, and spares.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause investigations for metrology and system issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. in engineering, polymer science, materials science, or a relevant field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in metrology, automation, and manufacturing technology.
• Experience leading projects and multifunctional teams.
• Ability to work with chemicals, polymers, analytical and mechanical testing tools, moving mechanical parts, fume hoods, and loud equipment.
• Ability to work safely in laboratory and manufacturing environments and wear required personal protective equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience designing integrated precision measurement units with fixturing and gantry systems.
• Knowledge of measurement, inspection, automated systems, and process control systems.
• Six Sigma project leader certification and knowledge of SPC principles.
• Experience with chemical, mechanical, dimensional, or laser measurements in analytical laboratories.
• Experience with statistical software such as JMP or Minitab.
