What you will do
- Own the P&L, growth targets, and market strategy for Japan.
- Build relationships with local partners, merchants, and financial institutions.
- Lead user acquisition, activation, and retention initiatives in the Japanese market.
- Represent the business with Japanese regulators, government bodies, and industry associations.
- Recruit, manage, and develop a local team, including community ambassadors and business development staff.
- Provide market intelligence, competitive analysis, and localization recommendations to headquarters.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in country management or market leadership, ideally in fintech, payments, or financial services.
- Deep network and understanding of Japan’s financial, technology, or startup ecosystem.
- Proven track record of driving growth and managing cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in English is required.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in Japanese.
- Experience with crypto, stablecoins, or digital assets.
- Established relationships with regulators or key industry stakeholders in Japan.
