TL;DR
Database Administrator (PostgreSQL/ClickHouse) (PostgreSQL/ClickHouse): Operating the stateful data layer of a European cloud computing platform with an accent on production database reliability, high availability, backup recovery, and performance. Focus on designing and upgrading Postgres and ClickHouse clusters, executing low-downtime migrations, automating operations, and leading incident response for data-tier outages.
Location: Helsinki, Finland; hybrid work with presence in the Helsinki office 3 days per week

What you will do
- Design, deploy, operate, upgrade, and decommission production PostgreSQL and ClickHouse clusters.
- Run replication, high availability, failover, sharding, backups, and point-in-time recovery procedures.
- Monitor database workloads, plan capacity, tune queries and schemas, and improve performance with application teams.
- Execute schema changes, version upgrades, and data migrations with zero or minimal downtime.
- Participate in on-call rotations, lead data-tier incident response, and conduct blameless post-mortems.
- Automate provisioning and routine operations with Ansible, GitOps, and CI/CD workflows while maintaining runbooks and operational standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience administering production relational databases, with deep hands-on PostgreSQL expertise.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL replication, high availability, failover, backups, and point-in-time recovery.
- Experience with analytical databases and database performance tuning, including query plans, indexing, schema design, vacuum or merge behavior, and resource sizing.
- Experience with on-call rotations, production incident management, Linux administration, and debugging.
- Experience with Ansible, GitOps, CI/CD, database observability, metrics, slow-query analysis, and capacity planning.
- Scripting or programming experience with Python, Bash, Go, or similar, plus strong collaboration and communication skills.
Nice to have
- Production experience with ClickHouse, Redis, Valkey, etcd, MongoDB, or other NoSQL and key-value stores.
- Experience running stateful workloads on Kubernetes, including operators, persistent volumes, and storage classes.
- Familiarity with connection poolers, proxy layers, logical replication, cross-cluster data movement, and CDC pipelines.
- Knowledge of distributed systems, storage, high availability, data security, and compliance practices.
- Comfort using AI-powered tooling to improve engineering workflows.
