Staff Software Engineer (React Native)

Location: Hybrid position based at the Montreal, Quebec office; presence required 3 days per week

What you will do

• Serve as the technical leader for the CV User Experience team and architect end-to-end mobile and backend systems.
• Build and ship TrueMotion-driven mobile features that monitor movement, coach performance, and track recovery.
• Design performant APIs, mobile application architecture, data models, distributed systems, and microservices.
• Identify and resolve scaling and performance bottlenecks across the full stack.
• Improve observability with Datadog and Sentry, including monitoring, logging, and error tracking.
• Mentor engineers, lead architecture discussions, review code, and drive improvements to tooling and engineering practices.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience; the French version specifies more than 8 years of full-time experience excluding internships.
• At least 3 years of experience building and shipping mobile applications, including React Native experience.
• At least 3 years with backend technologies such as TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, or GraphQL.
• At least 2 years with AWS cloud services and containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, generative AI development tools, system design, mobile architecture, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to work from the Montreal office 3 days per week in the hybrid arrangement.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven architectures and Apache Kafka.
• Proficiency with Datadog and Sentry.
• Experience creating computer-vision-driven mobile user experiences.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-team architecture discussions.
• English and French proficiency is an asset.
