Social Media Manager (Space Defense)

Location: Hybrid role near Long Beach, California, with some work required onsite. Applicants must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required authorizations.

Base salary: $90,000–$130,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the social strategy and presence across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
• Build and manage the content calendar, publishing cadence, platform-native copy, community management, and live engagement.
• Grow relevant audiences among talent, defense and space press, policymakers, the defense-tech community, and investors.
• Partner with Brand and Creative, Communications, product, business development, and leadership to turn launches, tests, hires, demos, and press moments into content.
• Own the CEO's social presence, including strategy, ghostwriting, audience growth, and real-time advising.
• Define social performance metrics, track audience growth and engagement quality, and connect results to brand and business impact.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience running social media and community programs for a brand, with measurable audience, engagement, and business or mission impact.
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to write clearly, directly, and in a consistent brand voice.
• Strong fluency across social platforms and the ability to interpret performance and adapt quickly.
• Ability to operate as a hands-on individual contributor while building a new social function.
• Experience working directly with C-suite executives, including advising on voice and timing and ghostwriting.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and genuine interest in defense, national security, or space; fluency with AI and modern content tools.
