Senior Engineer (PHP/React)

Location: Remote, Cairo, Egypt

What you will do

• Lead feature development end-to-end, from refining requirements with Product through production release and monitoring.
• Design significant system changes and establish development standards for the Backend team.
• Mentor engineers while contributing as a key technical voice.
• Identify problems, propose pragmatic solutions, and deliver work autonomously.
• Evaluate and adopt technologies that improve the existing platform.

Requirements

• Strong experience leading non-trivial work in modern PHP 7/8+, including object-oriented design and testability.
• Ability to deliver production React and TypeScript features independently.
• Experience with high-traffic web applications, database performance, caching, queues, idempotency, and observability.
• Practical experience with MySQL or similar relational databases, including reading EXPLAIN plans and optimizing slow queries.
• Experience designing and consuming HTTP APIs and managing third-party reliability issues.
• Daily use of AI coding tools with the judgment to validate generated code before merging.

Nice to have

• DevOps experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Kubernetes and CI/CD experience.
• Experience with Python, Node, Elasticsearch, or GraphQL.
• Experience building or evaluating LLM-powered product features, including prompt design, RAG, evaluations, and cost or latency trade-offs.
