Governance, Risk and Control (SOX) Specialist (Cybersecurity)

Salary: $176,000–$183,500 annual base salary for the New York/New Jersey area

What you will do

• Develop and execute internal information security risk assessments.
• Track security maturity metrics and key performance indicators.
• Conduct control testing for IT systems supporting financial reporting.
• Support audit readiness and security compliance initiatives.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors through evidence gathering and control walkthroughs.
• Manage the full audit lifecycle from scoping through remediation.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience with ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, CIS Controls, HIPAA, IT audit, and SOX compliance frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with SOX compliance and IT general controls.
• Experience planning and executing information security risk assessments and security control testing.
• Experience coordinating with auditors, gathering evidence, and conducting walkthroughs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical controls to nontechnical audiences.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.

Nice to have

• CISA, CRISC, CISSP, or an equivalent certification.
