Senior Backend Engineer (Python, AI Agent Development)

What you will do

• Develop, ship, and maintain secure, tested, and performant Flow Registry features across the Duo Workflow Service and hirify.global monolith.
• Build reusable primitives for agentic workflows using Python, LangChain, and LangGraph.
• Design and review GraphQL and REST APIs, backend logic, and contracts for frontend clients.
• Collaborate with Product Management, User Experience, frontend, backend, and artificial intelligence specialists.
• Improve automated testing, observability, resiliency, and production troubleshooting through Tier 2 on-call participation.
• Share engineering standards and help evolve competitive capabilities for hirify.global's agentic platform.

Requirements

• Production experience with Python applications using LangChain and LangGraph, including background jobs, APIs, and data models.
• Experience building artificial intelligence-powered backend features and integrations, with an understanding of large language model limitations and responsible production use.
• Proficiency in designing or extending scalable, maintainable, and backward-compatible REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including query optimization and data modeling.
• Ability to work across the stack in a mature codebase, address performance bottlenecks, and collaborate asynchronously in a remote environment.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, Vue frontend development, and user experience principles.
