Staff Embedded Logging Software Developer (C/C++)

Location: Markham, Ontario or Oshawa, Ontario; hybrid work with a minimum of three office days per week.

Salary: CAD 147,000–196,600 annually.

What you will do

• Define and implement platform logging clients across Android, Linux, and QNX.
• Manage volatile buffers and persistent log storage, including rotation, compression, retention, quotas, and USB-based local retrieval.
• Build control-plane integrations for configuration retrieval, validation, arbitration, persistence, fallback, and log package triggers.
• Design reliable streaming and file-based egress paths for binary logs, crash dumps, and multi-file log packages.
• Protect real-time and safety-critical workloads through startup sequencing, resource budgeting, runtime controls, and cybersecurity measures.
• Standardize logging schemas and documentation while collaborating with embedded, observability, product, and validation teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of embedded software development or systems engineering across Android, Linux, and/or QNX.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Android Java, including platform-level integrations.
• Experience with control-plane services, data-plane pipelines, file management, logger ecosystems, and storage quotas.
• Deep understanding of ECU startup sequencing, CPU, memory, and flash budgets, plus contention mitigation.
• Strong technical communication, design documentation, structured logging, telemetry, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with driver- or HMI-initiated log capture and upload flows.
• Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity and data-protection processes.
• Exposure to OpenTelemetry, protobuf/gRPC, or related observability technologies.
• Automotive familiarity with ECU architectures, SoC platforms, diagnostics, and crash analysis.
