Senior Software Engineer — Observability & IRM (Kubernetes)

Salary: $124,900–$250,000 USD base salary per year

What you will do

• Build and maintain incident management tooling and automation across alerting, escalation, incident channels, retrospectives, and SLA tracking.
• Evaluate and migrate the logging stack, including logging vendors and collection architecture.
• Extend the Backstage internal developer portal with Kubernetes integrations, maturity models, and SLO adoption tooling.
• Build alert-quality systems for smarter routing, improved grouping, and stronger feedback loops between alerts and service-owning teams.
• Develop and operate production infrastructure and internal developer tooling in collaboration with engineers across the company.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating production infrastructure or internal developer tooling.
• Ability to work across distributed systems, Kubernetes, observability pipelines, and web-based tooling.
• Familiarity with logging, alerting, and on-call workflows.
• Strong debugging skills and the ability to respond when production systems fail.
• Clear communication skills for explaining tradeoffs and advocating for technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Sumo Logic, or similar observability and log-management platforms.
• Experience with developer portals or service catalog tools such as Backstage or OpsLevel.
• Experience operating Kubernetes at scale.
• Deep understanding of HunnyPt.
