Senior Data Scientist (Maternity Cover)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid work with two days per week at the Berlin campus

What you will do

• Develop modeling approaches for large-scale logistics and workforce optimization challenges.
• Create machine learning, operations research, and statistical solutions that improve last-mile delivery operations.
• Pair-program with the squad to automate model retraining and prediction generation.
• Collaborate with data science colleagues to solve complex modeling problems.
• Define data needs and coordinate roadmaps with data engineering and technology teams.
• Process semi-structured data from BigQuery and use Spark where required.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience applying machine learning methods to real-world datasets.
• Fluency in Python and familiarity with NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, Matplotlib, and Plotly.
• Experience solving regression and classification problems using statistical, linear and nonlinear, and ensemble models.
• Experience with models such as Random Forest, XGBoost, LightGBM, or CatBoost.
• Knowledge of BigQuery, Spark, and SQL for working with large datasets.
• Ability to write maintainable code following software engineering best practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with time-series forecasting, operations research, or statistics.
