PhD Position Magnetic Microscopy of Magnets and Superconductors with Spins in Diamond (NV Magnetometry)

Location: Delft, Netherlands; relocation to the Netherlands may be required.

Salary: €3204–€4051 gross per month, increasing from the first to the fourth year.

What you will do

• Develop diamond-spin magnetic microscopy for studying superconductors and magnets.
• Use NV magnetometry to investigate spins, charges, and magnetization dynamics at micro-to-nano scales.
• Advance NV imaging toward measurements of high magnetic fields.
• Build and continuously innovate state-of-the-art microscopy systems.
• Conduct research in collaboration with the van der Sar lab at hirify.global and TNO.

Requirements

• Strong enthusiasm, motivation, and ability to develop advanced NV microscopy.
• English proficiency sufficient for communication, English-taught doctoral education, scientific publications, and thesis writing.
• Relevant experience with NV centers in diamond, single-spin control, magnetization dynamics, single-photon microscopy, microwave engineering, cleanroom fabrication, or electronic characterization is desirable but not required.
• A detailed CV, motivational letter, and copies of BSc and MSc degrees and transcripts are required.
