Senior Security Engineer I, IAM

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are required in the office, while the other two office days are flexible.

Salary: $163,944–$215,176 per year, plus benefits, equity grants, and annual performance bonuses.

What you will do

• Build identity and access management disciplines across internally built applications, Okta, Google Workspace Identity, AWS-hosted systems, and BigQuery.
• Design least-privilege access models, enterprise identity architectures, and privileged access patterns.
• Develop identity threat detection and response capabilities for workforce, internal application, and customer identity surfaces.
• Partner with software engineering teams to review permission models and implement secure authorization patterns in custom applications.
• Analyze identity telemetry, high-risk configuration states, detection logic, and incident response workflows.
• Explain identity risks and architecture tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant experience in identity engineering.
• Experience designing or implementing IAM controls for enterprise systems, cloud environments, SaaS platforms, or internally built applications.
• Strong understanding of least privilege, role-based and attribute-based access control, identity lifecycle management, and access reviews.
• Hands-on experience with Okta, Google Workspace Identity, and Google Cloud permission models.
• Working knowledge of SAML, OAuth, OIDC, SCIM, LDAP, and related session, token, and federation patterns.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain identity risks and architecture tradeoffs.

Nice to have

• Experience building identity controls in AWS and data platforms such as BigQuery.
• Experience with ITDR, UEBA, SIEM, SOAR, or other security detection and response capabilities.
• Experience in healthcare, insurance, fintech, or another regulated technology environment.
• Experience writing automation, queries, or production-quality code for identity workflows, detections, or platform integrations.
