Medical Affairs Scientist, Medical Manager/Associate (Field Medical) (Gastroenterology)

Location: Tokyo, Japan; remote, field-based work location assignment

What you will do

• Act as the hirify.global Japan medical scientific point of contact for healthcare professionals, medical societies, regulators, academia, and other external stakeholders in the assigned therapeutic area.
• Provide unbiased scientific and medical information, lead scientific exchanges, respond to unsolicited medical requests, and support medical education programs.
• Identify unmet medical needs and healthcare disparities, develop customer-facing medical plans, and contribute to local medical strategies and clinical lifecycle plans.
• Support advisory boards, evidence-generation initiatives, real-world evidence, non-interventional studies, database studies, registries, and timely publication of data.
• Build long-term peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals and specialists, maintain stakeholder maps, and communicate medical insights internally.
• Collaborate with cross-functional, global, regulatory, academic, and clinical research stakeholders while ensuring compliance and appropriate adverse-event reporting.

Requirements

• Four-year university degree and a master’s degree in life science, or an eligible pharmacist, nurse, veterinarian, dentist, or MD qualification under the stated education requirements.
• Medical or pharmaceutical expertise in the assigned therapeutic area and products, with the ability to conduct scientific discussions with healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders.
• Experience in clinical research; experience in Medical Affairs, Development, Research, medical science liaison work, or scientific publication is preferred.
• Ability to understand written and spoken English and Japanese in the assigned therapeutic area and during scientific interactions.
• Understanding of pharmaceutical-industry compliance, applicable laws, regulations, and appropriate product use.
• Ability to build stakeholder relationships, collaborate across functions, and rapidly acquire medical and scientific knowledge through self-learning.

Nice to have

• MD with clinical experience and board certification.
• PhD in life science.
• Scientific publication experience or medical science liaison experience.
• TOEIC score of 730 or higher.
