Data Infrastructure Engineer (AI)

Location: Redwood City, California, United States; hybrid

Salary: $170,000–$360,000 base salary per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Build and maintain scalable data infrastructure for high-throughput machine learning workflows.
• Develop and optimize large-scale data pipelines and batch processing jobs.
• Design and implement reliable, high-performance data platforms.
• Collaborate with ML researchers, product teams, and research and engineering teams.
• Integrate open-source tools and improve infrastructure through monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Help define best practices and evaluate programming languages and frameworks for data infrastructure.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python or a similar language, with willingness to learn Python.
• Experience with large-scale, high-throughput data infrastructure and data engineering at scale.
• Familiarity with distributed computing frameworks such as Ray, Spark, or Beam.
• Ability to design and optimize data pipelines for ML research and internal teams.
• Experience sourcing, integrating, and optimizing diverse large datasets.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and execution skills in fast-paced environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with complex data infrastructure or AI/ML platforms.
• Experience contributing to open-source data infrastructure projects.
• Experience in the robotics industry.
