Outside Plant Engineer (Fiber Network)

Location: Elko, Nevada, United States. In-office position five days a week.

Salary: $80,000–$110,000 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Manage network field activity and typically oversee 3–5 outside plant projects per month across a 4–11 state area.
• Assess excavation and construction plans for conflicts with fiber-optic cable and negotiate corrective changes.
• Prepare OSP work orders, cost estimates, scopes of work, specifications, and bid packages.
• Supervise contract engineering and construction personnel to ensure safety and compliance with construction standards.
• Coordinate permitting and approvals with federal, state, county, and city governments, as well as internal operational and access-management groups.
• Maintain as-built fiber route drawings, lead major construction and relocation projects, and respond to cable emergencies.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree, preferably in Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 1–5 years of experience in outside plant engineering and construction, including direct management of engineering or construction projects.
• Working knowledge of fiber cable construction standards.
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills.
• Ability to work in the office five days per week in Elko, Nevada.

Nice to have

• Project management experience.
• Basic knowledge of CAD systems, GIS, and GPS field survey tools.
• Experience maintaining a fiber network.
