TL;DR
Data Engineer – GIS / Geospatial (Python/GCP/BigQuery): Building and maintaining cloud-based ingestion pipelines and geospatial data models for operational, GIS, road-network, API, and sensor datasets with an accent on spatial transformations, data quality, and scalable architecture. Focus on integrating ArcGIS and external data sources, implementing validation and reconciliation controls, and solving complex geospatial data-modeling and integration issues.
Location: Brasília, Federal District, Brazil; at least four hours of daily overlap with U.S. Eastern business hours

What you will do
- Design, build, test, and maintain ingestion pipelines for operational and geospatial data sources.
- Develop transformations and BigQuery data models for GIS, geometry, geography, road networks, and location referencing.
- Integrate REST APIs, operational feeds, sensor data, and third-party sources into cloud data platforms.
- Implement automated validation, reconciliation, and data-quality controls across pipelines.
- Troubleshoot data discrepancies and integration defects, and support integration testing through system acceptance.
- Document technical solutions, maintain production code, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with distributed engineering disciplines.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering or similar roles.
- Strong production experience with Python, SQL, GCP, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and Cloud Composer / Apache Airflow.
- Hands-on experience with geospatial and GIS data, ArcGIS or comparable enterprise GIS technologies, GeoJSON, spatial transformations, and spatial SQL.
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines, integrating APIs and external data sources, and applying relational and analytical data modeling.
- Strong testing, data-quality, documentation, Git, and collaborative software development practices.
- Strong written and spoken English and at least four hours of daily overlap with U.S. Eastern business hours.
Nice to have
- Experience with transportation, logistics, mapping, mobility, IoT, sensor, weather, or infrastructure datasets.
- Experience integrating ArcGIS sources with cloud data warehouses and designing geospatial models in BigQuery.
- Experience with road networks, route segmentation, linear assets, or high-volume telemetry datasets.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code.
