Senior AI Engineer

Location: Bucharest, Romania; hybrid or full remote

What you will do

• Design and build production-grade AI applications and services using Python.
• Translate business requirements and AI use cases into scalable technical solutions.
• Build backend services, APIs, workflows, integrations, and reusable components incorporating LLMs and other AI capabilities.
• Design evaluation frameworks, test cases, observability, instrumentation, tracing, and monitoring for AI systems.
• Develop automated tests and CI/CD pipelines, diagnose deployed application issues, and support production workloads.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, review engineering work, establish best practices, and collaborate directly with clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, backend engineering, applied AI, or a related field.
• Strong Python fundamentals and experience building maintainable, production-grade Python applications, backend services, and APIs.
• Experience designing and deploying AI or LLM-powered products beyond proof-of-concept or notebook environments.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including modular design, testing, version control, and CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience evaluating LLM outputs, creating repeatable test cases, and improving the reliability and predictability of probabilistic AI systems.
• Experience with observability, external APIs, data sources, enterprise systems, technical guidance, solution design, and stakeholder communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with RAG, semantic search, embeddings, vector databases, agentic workflows, structured outputs, tool calling, or schema-driven applications.
• Familiarity with AI evaluation, experimentation, or observability platforms.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure AI Foundry, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, cloud infrastructure, containerisation, and production deployment.
• Knowledge of modern Python frameworks and tooling for APIs, data validation, testing, and dependency management.
• Experience in consulting or enterprise environments, including financial services, manufacturing, or client-facing production applications.
