Data Engineer (Contract) (Databricks)

Location: Remote-friendly within the United States, with priority for candidates local to Bellevue, Washington and open to occasional onsite collaboration.

Pay: $50.53–$80.29 per hour, with overtime pay when applicable.

What you will do

• Create, update, test, and document database views in Amazon Redshift and Databricks.
• Use DELOS to define and deploy database logic consistently across platforms.
• Review, simplify, and refactor complex SQL while preserving business logic.
• Troubleshoot query failures, unexpected results, schema differences, and platform-specific SQL behavior.
• Validate data outputs and collaborate with analysts to confirm downstream usability.
• Follow code review, version control, testing, naming, and deployment practices while communicating blockers and data-quality concerns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 2+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused role.
• Strong SQL skills, including joins, CTEs, aggregations, subqueries, and window functions.
• Knowledge of relational data modeling, schemas, views, data types, and null handling.
• Experience with a cloud data warehouse or lakehouse platform and comfort using Git or another version-control system.
• Ability to learn internal frameworks, explain query logic to non-technical audiences, and manage multiple priorities in a contract environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Amazon Redshift or Databricks.
• Basic Python familiarity for reading utilities, tests, or supporting data-engineering code.
• Previous experience in the game industry.
